Today is Sunday and the end of my DietBet "Sexy For Halloween" Challenge Week One with Zuzka. I successfully completed all of this week's workouts which were definitely quite challenging, but well worth it. Although I was very committed to my workouts, I did not eat well this week, or more accurately, for the most part, I did not EAT ENOUGH.
When I started the challenge, I was in British Columbia, and on the eve of Day 3, I moved back to Calgary, Alberta (Canada) for a seasonal work opportunity I always take up this time of year. I had thought that I would be starting work this past Saturday, but that ended up not being the case, and as a result, I procrastinated in buying the food required for proper meals until today, Sunday. Overall with a few exceptions, I ate healthily, but not often enough. I was eating a lot of Vemma Bod.E Shakes, and random food, mostly healthy, here and there, sporatically with no schedule.
As a result of all this unplanning, I weighed in on a non-bought (meaning I weighed myself with it and left) Walmart digital scale yesterday (Saturday) and it turns out that although I worked out really hard, I released NO WEIGHT. I am still at my starting weight of 163.5 pounds. Thankfully, I am aware thatit is definitely due to the fact that my eating was not regular, so therefore my metabolism was all over the place and my body didn't know when it would get fed next, and as a result held onto my fat, rather than releasing it.
I was just watching the newly released documentary Fed Up last night, in which they say that the idea of "just eat less, and exercise more" as being THE ANSWER to the obesity epidemic is completely false. In the movie they document several obese youth who are "eating less and exercising more" and still gaining weight. Most of them are eating a lot of processed foods that claim to be healthier, which is a huge part of their problem. None-the-less, I feel my results from the past week also go to show that even if you eat nutritionally dense foods, with none processed, and exercise a lot, often you will still not release weight if you are not eating enough food to fuel your body for the day. Eating every couple of hours is important to keep your metabolism balanced and burning your calories coming in.
So, lastly, I say, I AM PROOF that the mantra of "eat less, exercise more" to lose weight is BULLSHIT.
