Watching your favorite TV programmes along with other indulgences of eating like having pop corn, pizza, wafers, etc quite often can make you addicted and turn you into a couch potato.

Although it is a relaxing and pleasurable activity, it also has a downside since you start gaining weight and land up having a flabby body that plays up with your personality and self esteem.

Once we realize that the situation may go out hand, we all resolve to visit the nearest gym soon or take up some outdoor sport to remedy the situation, but it is easier said than done. The lure of TV can keep you glued on forever and all the   resolve to start something soon shifts to the next day that never comes!

However, there is no need to despair. You can very easily manage to work out while watching favorite TV programmes.

Warm-up Exercises

The trick that you must learn while watching the TV is to never remain static. Try to move your feet, legs, hands and arms while you watch the TV shows. Do not sit in one place for long; move around!

Every time you move you tend to burn calories and by frequent movement while watching television for 2 to 3 hours, you can burn as much as 300 calories. You also tend to increase your body’s metabolic rate, which helps in warming up as well as reduction of weight.

Treadmill Workout

In case you have an old treadmill that you have kept in some corner of your house, this is the time to move it right in front of the TV so that you can watch your show while doing your 30 to 40 minutes workout.

Circuit Training Routine

Keep your circuit training equipment handy and in the TV room so that you can watch your favorite programs while carrying out your circuit training.

It is not very difficult to watch the TV programs while doing the dumbbell exercises, skipping the rope, stationary jogging, etc while watching TV.

Innovative Exercises

Simple exercises like sit ups and pull ups or pushups can be done very easily without any difficulty while watching the television shows.

You can make it slightly more interesting too by introducing new innovative methods like trying to time the number of pushups that you can do during the commercial breaks and trying to beat your own record the next time!

Static Walking

A major point to remember while doing any work-out involving jumps or any exercise that may cause jerks to your heals or knees is that you should be wearing good quality shoes with adequate padding.

Also remember it is not a good idea to do the treadmill without shoes. This can potentially do more damage and therefore make it a point to wear your shoes even while you're sitting comfortably in front of the television!

Walking on the spot or in a small circle within the room takes no extra effort, nor does it require any equipment. Even if you have some physical concerns like flat feet you can indulge in these activities by wearing insoles for flat feet.

Select the specially designed insoles for flat feet. These days you get many varieties which are created as per your specific needs.
