Now that we are all in overdrive trying to shed our winter coats, let's double-dutch our way through this DietBet in the spirit of fun, shall we? I mean, who doesn't love a little healthy competition among friends, right? Personally, I find that friends are the best support team when you're having a rough day and, at the same time, the only ones who will call you out when you're slacking!
The struggle is definitely real when it comes to staying on track with eating healthy and working out (I'm sure we can all relate). I generally find myself in a battle between wanting to shed that last five pounds and wanting to inhale an entire medium pizza by myself. More times than I'm willing to admit, the pizza (or other tasty-but-counterproductive substitute) wins, but I am determined to break the cycle and finish this DietBet without losing any money, pride or dignity in the process. I believe that money is a great motivator, but that being said, my biggest motivation comes in the many forms of "before" photos (we all have them...those older photos from a year (or even a month) ago that make you cringe every time you see them). Those before photos, as much as I want to hate them, have become a great measure of the progress I've made thus far. It's been a huge point of pride to see visible results and turn the wishes into work and then goals into accomplishments.
No two health/fitness journeys are the same and we have to step away from comparing ourselves to others and instead empower and encourage one another to push ourselves a little bit harder, run a little further and grow our ever-wavering willpower when it comes to eating healthy. Whether you're doing it for the skinny jeans, the summer beach body, an upcoming event or just overall health and fitness, it's your journey and yours alone. I look forward to documenting my 28-day journey through this DietBet and am confident we will all finish stronger, harder, faster and better than when we started.
Good luck to all, and may the odds be ever in your favor!
