Are you up to a challenge?

Earlier this week I was on the Sparkpeople website and saw a video featuring a young woman trying to improve her life by completing 100 Days of Fitness. I admit I was inspired by the video and began to think that perhaps I too could commit to 100 days of fitness.

But rather than start working out I did what I do best; I surfed the Internet, leading me to find the movie, “100 Days of Love”, a TV show, “100 Days to Heaven” and a course for realtors “100 Days to Greatness.”

Most importantly I found a few links that were fitness related including 100 Healthy Days www.100-healthy-days.comand Workitout 100 at workitout100.com/about/ YouTube and Twitter even led me further on this path.

So what does this have to do with anything?

Well, a few weeks back my buddy Brian, sent me an email after noticing I had gone silent once again and now he was asking me, challenging me to find a way to get back on track, just as he had done by entering into a 10 K race.

So, while this blog is a response to Brian, it is most importantly my declaration that today is the start of my own 100 Days of Fitness and a challenge to others to finally begin or to recommit to their own journey to better health and fitness.

Today, I am starting my own personal 100 Days of Fitness in response to Brian’s challenge. Today is May 16; my day 1 and this will continue for 100 days ending on August 24.

My commitment is to workout daily for 100 days, strength training alternating with cardio, and I promise to check in daily with a quick update and a weekly blog about this new adventure. (Even as I type these words I am doubting myself and thinking, "can I or will I really do this" but like other adventures sometimes you just have to go for it.)

I realize I need to do this to get back on track, to end my rut, and to break the interia but more so I want to do this to reach a healthy weight, gain strength and to get energized and live a life more enjoyable. So today I begin …

… and today I will complete four simple fitness tests to see my starting point and then I will actually workout and keep doing so for the next 100 days. If you too want to start with the fitness tests check out the sparkpeople link

I hope you don’t mind me blogging about this and I hope you are willing to support me with an occasional message on my page or comment on my blog but if you want, take this challenge for yourself and join me. For the next 100 days we can change our lives, win a few dietbets and become more healthy and more fit.
