A few weeks ago, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease.  It's an autoimmune attack against the thyroid, which has the side effect of hypothyroidism.  When I first found out, I was really scared.  I've always been healthy- I quit eating refined sugar at 15 for god sake.  They told me I needed to go on a gluten free diet- if I'm not gonna eat gluten, I want it to be for trendy reasons and NOT forced reasons. I've been in a funk since then.  I'm living across the country where there is so much delicious food and a family member that wants to provide me with all of it.  I normally have no problem saying no; however, I've said fuck it a few too many times.  My weight isn't completely out of control, but it's more than I'm used to for sure.  I want to get back to being the good health role model that my family and classmates view me as.  Thank you to all you diet betters for your support and ObesetoBeast for taking my money (the main way to keep a poor grad student accountable).  Good luck to everyone!
