I work as a manager in a community house for people with special needs. So yes, I do the shopping for the house and although they are intitled to what ever it is they choose to eat, we do cook more often and try to make healthier choices. The hardest part about the grocery store is the cookies, candy, and pastry isles where I become dizzy with "I need this, want that", so on and so forth.  I try hard to sustain from such delicious foods but I give in and find my self at teh check out with ice cream sandwiches, cookies, and other items I know are sabataging my weight loss journey.

Somethings i've learned to do before going and during shopping at "The Dreaded Grocery Store".

  1. I will have a snack before I go to the store. This helps me make better choices because I am full and the cravings are minimal to none at all.
  2. I avoid the isles that are tempting, like the pastry section in our local grocery store.
  3. I keep a list of what I need and stick to it thus, I am leaving the store sooner and with the items I need.

If you have other suggestions, I would love to hear them.
