Why do we say we 'lost weight'. Typically when I lose something I want to retrieve it. But I don't want to retrieve this unwanted weight. Let's call it 'dismissed weight' instead, shall we?!

Case in point- I successfully completed my first DietBet right before Thanksgiving. I 'lost' just over 7 pounds, only to find it over the past several weeks.  I didn't want to find it.  I didn't want it to come back, but it did.

I just submitted my initial weigh in and it is exactly the same as my initial weight in November.  (At least I lost those 7 pounds and didn't add another 7 on top of it.)  This time, I want to DISMISS the weight and I never want to find it again.
