Two years ago when I enetered my first diet bet with Chris and Heidi, I ended up in the hospital and was not able to accomplish my goal.
I have Idiopathic Subglottic Stenosis. It's a horrifying disease to deal with. Basically, your trachea swells shut over and over again and they have no reason why. I was misdiagnosed saying I had exercise induced asthma. Inhalers never helped and the more I would try and move, the more short of breath I would become.
I had a tracheal resection. During the procedure, they cut out the part of the trachea that keeps swelling shut only to be back in the hospital 5 weeks later needing my trachea dilated again. This went on all over 2014. Jan. 2015 I went to Mayo, MN where the doctors preformed a surgery and put me on some medications. One year later, and I'm still breathing great!!!
The thing about tracheal stenosis is that it causes a lot of mental and emotional scars. People look at you and see you're fat and think... go work out, lose weight... then you'll feel better. And then there are the people who say it to your face. Stenosis doesn't work that way. Our trachea's literally narrow down to the size of a drinking straw and that's what we have to breathe out of. You get comments about you sounding like Darth Vader. You have family members who push you to do more, only for you to collapse in exhaustion at the end of the day. Little things like taking a shower is very hard work when you have tracheal stenosis.
2015 I enjoyed just being able to breathe. 2016 I'm going to accomplish my goal!
