One of my favourite things about my Withings scale is the app that comes with it. The last time I accomplished a 30+ lb weight loss journey I was using an internet app where you tracked your weight and it calculated your trend, mapping the trend on a graph. You could project the trend into the future to see where, if you kept up the same progress, you'd be later on. But most importantly, it helped deal with the dramatic ups-and-downs that scales that give each day, and showed overall progress. Each day I'd weigh in and, as long as my weight contributed to a continued downward trend, I knew I was making progress! Conversely, if I overindulged and submitted a weight that countered the trend, it was a real wake-up call.

My Withings scale gives the same kind of trend line (with a prettier interface and some better bells and whistles than that old app), and I'm finding it just as helpful and motivating. So even though my weight is up on the scales today (a beer and a wrap after we finished a concert yesterday evening), it's still under the trend, and I'm still on track. And that helps me stay motivated today to stick to my healthy diet and calorie counting, which will mean the weight will be right back down where I want it in no time!

Exercise Goals: 30 min of interval training on a stationary bike 4-5x/week, 30 min of dumbell circuit training 3x per week. Hit 10,000 steps every day.

Last week:

Bike: M, T, W, Th, Sa (5/5)

Circuit: M, Sa (2/3)

10,000 steps: M, T, Th, F, Sa, Su (6/7)

What I struggled with last week:

I'm still struggling to get that third weight-lifting circuit in each week. I was supposed to do one on Wednesday, but instead I curled up on the couch, exhausted. And I'm facing a busier week this week, with extra rehearsals and a client meeting on Wednesday night. These are all good things that I enjoy, but I'm going to be tiiiired! To beat this, I think I'm going to find a new series of dumbell exercises to use, and alternate between the exercises. A little novelty goes a long way!

What I'm proud of last week:

I really planned my weekday meals well last week, making a shrimp pho soup that I was able to bring every day for a work lunch, and making a giant recipe of slow cooker burrito mix that we ate as leftovers for most of the week. Thank goodness the husband likes burrito bowls! I'm going to need to plan well tonight, as it's my only night "off" this week, so that this busy week doesn't turn into easy, high-cal food!

What I'm looking forward to this week:

Meal planning tonight! I do love meal planning. And walking home from work today will be a JOY! The sun is out, the air is warm, and I'm going to live up this beautiful spring weather until our hey-you-live-in-Canada winter comes back!
