
I am a 57 year old Grandma who waited a long time to come to the realization that healthy is so much better than the path I have been on of eating what I want and not getting proper exercise. I retired two years ago and within months learned I had diabetes...no "pre-diabetes" or other warnings, just a letter in the mail that scared the heck out of me. I immediately (with the help of Team 383) lost 55 pounds...and OOOHHH THAT FELT GOOD! Was still far from a healthy weight, but it made so much difference in my daily life. I felt so good and was so proud...then, I quit following Team 383 and started very bad habits. I started volunteering one day a week with my best friend and the day became an opportunity to do things we couldn't do when we were working...drinking during the day and having such fun now that our kids were all gone from home and our responsibilities greatly reduced. So, the pounds started pounding back on...didn't gain them all back, but the 30 I regained went straight to my belly...prior to losing weight, I was very nicely proportioned, just large. I started following Team 383 again and saw this opportunity to join a diet bet competition that I hope will spark me to take my health seriously and lose 4% of my body weight...which is a lot!!!! But, if this either makes me eat better, exercise more often and/or lose any weight, it will be a great success!! More on my journey after we start the competition! Let the games begin!!!
