I have been fortunate with the scale lately as it has moved from being a jerkface to being friendly. But it's just as important to acknowledge the non-scale victories too.

Last week I took a few days off to go camping with my husband. In addition to laughing at him for forgetting the lighter (he's no boy scout so rubbing sticks together would not have produced a fire), there were some other highlights.

  1. I was able to purchase, set up, and use a hammock without having to shop endlessly for one that would support my weight.
  2. We went on a nature hike and my husband (who is relatively in shape) had to take a break when I could have kept going.
  3. I started week 3 of C25K and did a trail run without dying. Sure I almost rolled my ankle and was nearly eaten alive by mosquitoes, but I survived. In fact, I ended up doing an extra 30 minutes of walking (only because of poor signage that should have read: If the mosquitos haven't killed you yet, they have another 3.5 km to do so! - had this been posted, I would have turned around)
  4. I had a day with over 20,000 steps. 

So, all in all, things are pretty awesome. It's great to be moving into a new challenge with these NSVs. 

Next up: family trip home to good food, cottage life, and my favourite-est kids ever.
