Hi everyone, I am brand new to DietBet and this is my first game. :) I joined slightly late so yesterday was Day 1 for me. I am kind of flying by the seat of my pants right now, just trying to eat smarter to start with. Over time, I plan to step up my activity too. I have surgery next month (gallbladder) so I thought joining the game would be a great motivation to take off a few pounds before I go in. I already eat very low fat because of my gallbladder problem but even having eaten like this for a few months now, the weight hasn't moved much. But now I am starting to pay extra attention to what I'm eating, not just the fat content but also whether the food is calorie-dense, etc. I'm not following any particular plan although I mostly eat vegan. I am trying to eat less processed food and less breads/bagels, etc. since they are a weakness for me.
Yesterday I experimented a bit in this regard.... I started the day with a veggie burger and corn on the cob with a bit of vegan margarine, had a snack of soymilk ice cream with high-protein chocolate granola and a banana and then later on I decided to test whether relying on potatoes and corn was going to result in a weight gain (I read some Starch Solution groups where members have really done well but haven't really tested it yet).... I ate 5 small to medium sized potatoes for the rest of the day (baked with a tiny bit of vegan margarine and salt and pepper to top them) and another corn on the cob. Finished the day with another snack of soymilk ice cream with banana and chocolate granola.... AND my scale was down this morning. Pretty neat! lol I might have to test the multiple potato thing again today. ;)
This morning's breakfast was a wholewheat bagel with low-fat PB2 and a fresh, sliced Niagara peach, drizzled with just a tiny bit of genunine Canadian maple syrup. I get very anixous if I don't have a good supply of that stuff in my place at all times. ;) lol
Anyways, I thought I might blog here about what I'm eating each day, as well as any thoughts about the strategies I am trying out or activities I'm doing. I look forward to reading other members' blogs as well. :)
