I lost 105 pounds a few years back and improved my health dramatically. I was 37 years old with Type 2 Diabetes, extremely high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and depression. I was told I wouldn't see 50, and with two young kids, I couldn't let that happen.

My father, Pete, was 56 when he suddenly passed away. Much MUCH too young. He was a hard-worker, who let his obesity get the best of him. A few months before he died, we had a chat about weight issues and I promised him that I would try hard to be healthy. I had no idea that talk would be one of our last one-on-one chats. It took years for me to finally take action and work on a new me. But here we are!

My Promise to Pete has been realized, as I continue my journey for a healthier life. I struggle with food on a daily basis, but I just keep on truckin'! I have completed two half-marathons, one full marathon, one half IronMan, and i'm about to do my second full marathon this Sunday (October 19th). I hope to qualify for Boston.

I hope a lot of people read this and get out there and get active! You don't have to run marathons, but get out and have fun....move your booties, life is good...let's stay here awhile!
