I have been a Chef for 15 years. In addition, I have been unhealthy for 15 years. I blamed my career for my weight gain because it was easier for me to use it as an excuse to be unhealthy. My excuse for may years have been, "I am around food all day...how can I ever lose the weight? I am going to stay this weight as long as I am in this position". Well let me tell you, it was all in my head and just an excuse not to try to be healthy. Furthermore, most Chefs and cooks don't eat as much as everyone thinks because we work in the kitchen. The truth is, we are to busy to have a meal. Really! Most times we will go all day without eating. Then when we do eat, we eat "bad". We eat late, we choose something quick, easy and unhealthy and we eat lots of it because we haven't eaten all day. True story!
Eight weeks ago a friend of mine, who is a beachbody coach, invited me to her Accountability Group to take a challenge to lose the weight and get healthy. I was unhappy with how I had let my health go. Unhappy with how I felt about myself on the inside and angry about how much I ached physically everyday. I was ready for a change.
Do you believe in the saying, "thing's happen for a reason"? Well, I do. I purchased Focus T25 2 months prior to being asked to join this accountibility group. I was pumped when I got the Challenge Package. I did 2 workouts then...I lost motivation and then the DVD's sat on the shelf and got dusty. I kept telling myself, "tomorrow I will get to it". "Oh, I have to do this an that and...". Yes I thougt of every excuse to make myself not workout. Then the invitation to the accountibility group came. I told myself NO MORE EXCUSES! You are a Chef but you don't need to be unhealthy. You are worth it! Once I told myself those words, I was in. I joined the group. I checked in everyday. I had the the support of my group and coach. Best of all I have lost 21# to date! I fell better about myself, I feel healthier, I eat clean and the aches and pains are gone! Yes I have done the work and continue to do so but being accountable to a group and a game like dietbet has helped me. Eight weeks ago I was 216# and now I am 195#. I have not seen the 100's sense college.
No Excuse! If I can do it as a Chef that works 11-13 hour days you can too. That is why I love Focus T25! I do have 25min a day to dedicate to ME! As a side note, I have dropped the weight by not only doing this for 25min a day, but also by doing the modified workouts. So it can be done! I am proof of it! Shaun T is an amazing coach! So is my beachbody accountibility coach Jodi! She saved me!
