Hello DietBetters!

So my name is Rachel. I'm 19 and live in Michigan. I'm currently a freshman at Grand Valley State University double majoring in elementary education and English Language Arts. I love singing in choir, acting on stage, playing piano, pretending I can dance, and laughing at stupid jokes.

So why am I on DietBet? Well, as almost everyone on here, I struggle with my weight I've always struggled with my weight ever since I was a little kid. It has gone through major fluctuations within the past 5 years. I've lost over 20 pounds, gained it all back, lost 10, gained it back...you know the drill. I'm the definition of a yo-yo dieter. Since I'm in college now, I know that I NEED to form healthy and manageable habits in order to keep my weight in check so I don't gain the freshman 15 or 20 or 25 or whatever.

I love exercising, it truly can be an enjoyable activity! Thanks to my totally awesome boyfriend, I have really gotten into running recently. So much so, that I WILL be running in the Charlevoix Half Marathon in June 2015. I can run up to 5.5 miles right now, so why I can't I double that by June?

I also love the group exercise classes offered at my school. I am a regular at Insanity, TRX, PiYo, and Zumba classes. I will definitely be taking advantage of all of the classes this upcoming semester, since in Michigan, the winters can be extremely brutal and not good for running outside (and I absolutley HATE and refuse to run more than a mile on a treadmill.)

My main short term goal is to lose at least 10 pounds before I begin half marathon training in March. Why? I just want to feel good when I run that race, plus losing excess body fat is always a good thing when you're considered overweight. Also, I don't want to try to lose weight during half marathon training because as the runs become longer, I will be required to eat a lot of calories in order to keep my metabolism going and not starving my body.

So that's me. I can't wait to talk to all of you and lose weight with all of you! :)
