Weekends are hard in my home. The schedule and routine get thrown off by little things. Because our kids are not great sleepers, Jason and I really need our weekends to catch up. This means that on both Saturday and Sunday, we each get to get extra sleep- one day just isn't enough.
Usually the kids wake up around 5 am. Jason will wake up with them for the first three hours. Then we will switch and he will go back to bed for the next three hours. Which means by the time all of us are aware and ready, it is already noon.
Sam's daily therapy needs are pretty intense, particularly in terms of the daily swim. That eats up another three hours. Coupled with cleaning and trying to catch up on errands, we are usually exhausted by the time the kids go to bed at 7 or 8. And that's when my work outs are scheduled to take place.
It has worked for us so far, but not without challenges. Getting my andrenaline up that late at night makes it hard for me to fall asleep before 11. And I miss getting quiet time with my husband since we are almost always on the heavy go. Over the next few weeks, I will be really looking at how we can meet our family needs in a way that allows for both a) better, more consistent sleep and b) feeling less stressed and pressured in our every day activities.
"Work-Life-Work Out-Marriage-Family-Self Balance"...I suspect this is the goal of most families. I wonder if it is actually achievable. :P
Food today: keeping it simple and getting my portions made for the week.
