It's Day 1 of my dietbet. My weight as of today is 215.6 pounds. I've been stuck around this weight for the better part of 4 years. At some points it's been 5 pounds more, others have been 5 pounds less. The highest I've ever weighed was 230 pounds when I was 15. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 15 years old and it's been a real struggle for me to get to a healthy weight. I've had spurts of healthy eating and exercise, but I've never been able to stick with it. Part of it for me was money. The other part was time. I was in high school and then college and always working part time, so gym memberships and buying my own food weren't always an option. Now that I'm out of school and working full time, I have more free time (after work) and more money to do things I need to do for myself. I'm determined to not only lose the weight I need to lose to be healthier and happier, but I want to maintain the healhty lifestyle I'm developing. I joined a gym a few months ago and after a bout with a nasty virus that kept me sick for over a month , I'm finallly going on a regular basis. I actually made it there 5 times this last week! I have a trainer who is awesome and keeps me working hard and motivated. This past week was the first week I really cracked down on my diet. So prior to signing up for the dietbet, I have 1 solid week of healthy eating and exercise under my belt. That said, I've gained a few pounds since I started. I know I'm gaining muscle and you can't always listen to the scale but it sure is disappointing to see the numbers go up. I think by doing this dietbet it will keep me even more accountable and motivate me to kick it up when I'm working out without my trainer. My goal is to continue to eat healthy and to make time to get exercise. I'm trying to eat more lean proteins, whole grains, and vegetables. I'm trying to stay away from carbs and dairy right now, but I allow myself to enjoy some things in moderation. I work as a sous chef, so the whole healthy eating and making sure to eat is tricky! All that said, I'm looking forward to seeing where I am a month from now! Good luck to all my fellow dietbetters!
