Slept in this morning until a whopping 7:10am. Woke up, fed and medicated the dogs and then sat and played on my phone while I debated strategy in my head. I went to Zumba last night with two of my workout buddies, but if Zumba was enough, I wouldn't have gained back 10% in the last year.

[Flashback to end of 2013]

I was on track with diet, exercise, and life in general. I felt great, was keeping active with the hiking and the running and the weightlifting. I bought into a 2nd gym membership just to add in Zumba in my routine. Life was good. Then my boyfriend proposed on 12/24/13.

{Commence the fireworks and trumpets and all sorts of celebratory noises}

I was excited!... And then wedding planning started.

From 12/26/13 until 8/2/14, I had work stress (which I had been able to mitigate for so long) and then --- WEDDING STRESS! I gained 10lbs during those 8 months when most brides are trying to slim down for their nuptials. On 8/3/14, I was married, which of course meant the stress would drop, which I also thought meant the weight would drop. I was wrong. Honeymoon + holidays + "wedding craziness is done so I should reward myself with relaxation instead of exercise" = another 15lbs added. Every step on the scale brought another level of frustration.

On January 12, 2015, I saw a message pop up for "From Fat to Fit Chick" about starting the new year with a new Dietbet. In reviewing my 2014 gain, I wanted to plan for my 2015 loss.

[/Flashback]

At 7:30, I inhaled deeply, walked into the bathroom, and turned on the shower. While it heated up (since my plumbing apparently runs through Antarctica), I knocked out a couple hundred steps and 15 pushups. After washing and clothing myself, I mixed up my breakfast of chocolate Shakeology with 1/2 cup of blueberries and unsweetened coconut milk. Under 300 calories, but it should keep me sustained until my mid-morning snack, for sure!

I'm in training at work for the rest of the week, which means catered lunch, but I packed (for the whole group in training) carrots, hummus, blackberries, and apples. We have 6 months of competing, but I need to remind myself that I will conquer this challenge 1 day at a time.

Goal for 1/14/15: Make healthy lunch choices.
