Well, this month is wrapped up. At this point, there is virtually no way that I will be unable to make my dietbet; in fact, I am expecting to come up at least one full percent lower than my goal.
It was a fun month, but super stressful in some ways. I really don't like using weight as the barometer of my success- mostly because I work out in ways that often result in short term inflammation and muscle building water weight. That said, this was the first time I used a tangible weight goal in my health journey and in many ways it was an intriguing and daunting adventure.
I think I'll probably do another one, pushing myself even closer to the -30lbs pounds in 2015 goal! I would like to make it by the end of April, so that I can spend the rest of the year focused on more fitness focused goals. That said, for the first time in a decade a half, the idea that I might actually be able to come close to that 'normal' BMI doesn't seem ridiculous. (Even at my tiniest size 4/6, I was also just a hair above the normal range since I carry a LOT of leg weight from years of figure skating and gymnastics.)
But another 15-20lbs over the next twelve weeks is definitely doable. And I am really committed to getting there!
Congratulations to all who won their bets, and to all of those who tried. Losing weight is a really complicated journey, and sometimes it doesn't work out the way we want it to in the short term, despite our best efforts. Know that you are able to do this- if not in one month than maybe in a few weeks more.
Everyone who is here has already taken the first big step towards improving their lives, and that is an accomplishment to be recognized.
Well done!
