I don't follow a program, or a specific diet. I was filling out my profile and thinking, according to dietbet...I don't do anything! I've never really liked "dieting" per say, because I hate being restricted on anything. Which is how I got to my current weight. So my plan this time around involves counting calories, adding in veggies to my existing diet, and eating smaller portions of the food I love. I'd rather look at my day as a whole, with a YOLO snack in the afternoon and 5 great/healthy mini meals the rest of the day, then worry about "is this mini snickers going to completely derail everything else I'm doing?"
So far, it's working out great. I've lost a total of 15 lbs so far since starting these changes, I have fewer cravings, and I'm not arguing with my husband, who tries to support me by keeping me on track. He's much more disciplined than I am (which is why he weighs less than my goal weight!) and doesn't always understand why I don't want to eat the same salad 5 days a week. I get bored and my blerch* wants a pizza! So...I order a mini pizza from somewhere that is half the calories for the whole thing rather than 4- 400 calorie slices of whatever monstrosity I was thinking about. Or appease it with a healthy version of the same thing, split up in to several meals.
I am working out a tiny bit each week, but have been more focused on changing habits than doing cardio. It's coming, but I'm trying to get my schedule to open up more so I can actually have a regular time to work out. For now I've been doing a 5 minute video here or there, rather than worrying about blocking out a full 30-60 minutes for working out. A little change can go a long way!
*If you need to know what a "blerch" is - look up The Oatmeal's comic on "The Terrible and Wonderful Reasons Why I Run Long Distances." I may not be running (yet,) but I am determined to beat my blerch!
