Rest days are hard for me. I know why they are important- but they are hard nonethless. I am an andrenaline junkie, and use my intense work outs as a way to regulate my sensory and neurological processing differences. So it is rare that I will take a "full" rest day- I prefer to take active recovery days; days that are designed to act as a cooldown for my muscles but still allow me to get my heart rate up, get my body moving and burn some calories (albeit at a lesser intensity and speed).
So today, I decided to take an incline walk. The treadmill goes up to 15%, so I did that walk at a rate of about 3.4 mph, burning off 800 calories in 60 minutes. It felt good- a lot of stretch for my legs which tend to take the bulk of my work outs. But I did miss that intense heart rate and sweaty feeling that I get when I doing something like T25.
I've reached my 12.5k step goal on my fitbit, and I may leave it at that tonight. It's been a while since I have just sat back and enjoyed a good movie with my husband. Who knows...we might even have some popcorn ;)
We're 25% there, everyone! Just three more weeks to go and give it all we've got! :D
