I was a chubby kid when growing up. My weight was always in the range of overweight or obesity for my height. I remembered that my mom have to buy plus size pants for me, and it also took me few trips to the mall to find what cloth I can wear through selective shopping. Even though I know that I am overweight, I was fine with it and never have the incentive to loose weight. The only time that I went on "weight lost journey" was my tutor during high school offered me $20 to loose 2 lbs in a week, and which I did. I didn't continue the weight lost because I don't feel like I needed it.

My mom's side of family has a history of diabetes and my mom was also diagnosed in her mid 40's, since then my mom has been into eating healthy as a lifestyle. Our family's diet mostly consist of vegetables, fruits, grains, fish, some dairy and white meats. So now you must thinking, how did I even gain weight with all these healthy eating right? Let me tell you this, what considered healthy was bland for me. Mostly my diets was 80% of healthy eating combining with 20% of hot cheetos and instant ramen cups, both high calories and high sodiums.

I gained most of my weight through the years in the University. I was around 155lbs when I started college and I end up with 174lbs when I graduated recently. Months before I graduated, my mom told me that I will look better if I loose 20 lbs. Even then, I still don't feel that I need to loose weight, and I was the heaviest (even heavier than my dad) in my family.

One day when my sister was getting tea from Starbucks, I grabbed one of those cards that gives free music, apps, video, etc. For that time, it was offering free lesson 1 of Beginner Shred from Jillian Michaels. I did the 20 minutes work out for about 5 days, mean while I googled about Jillian Michaels and stumbled upon the 30 days Shred that everyone talked about how it works and it will kick your butt. Then I was like, well I am already doing the Beginner Shred, might as well do the 30 days Shred right? And seriously how hard could it be. For me, the Beginner Shred was a nice work out. I felt good and warm after it, however, the 30 days Shred was like sweat balls coming out of my forehead after I completed the work out.

For the month of February, I started to record down my diets and exercise. I cut half of the carbs of what I usually eat, even though brown rice is healthy, I replaced the amount with more vegetables. The first recorded week, I was doing the 30 days Shred daily and some days with both Beginner and 30 days Shred. I lost 3lbs the first week. It was getting fun just to record down numbers. Personally, I don't believe that you should cut out all the junk foods that you love, but you have to control the amount of it and how many times you are having it. I still eat instant ramen and hot cheetos but it was limited on how much and how I eat it.

At the end of February, I didn't finsh all of the 30 days Shred (did 22 days), but I lost 10.6 lbs. Now I am here, new at DietBet because I saw the Jillian Michaels' challenge, signed up for it, and ready for the next 4 weeks along with other game that I joined.
