Ran my first 5km race today. 

Final results 

21st overall (7th in my age group, 10th for women overall) out of 221 participants. Also, time readjustment to 00:27:18. Still pretty happy with that time, but would like to see it under 27 over the next few weeks. 

I am scheduled to do another 5km race in May before moving up to the triahtlon in June and the 10km in August. I may try to switch that up and do a 10km in May instead of a 5km...we'll see how the next few weeks of training go!

Dealing with people and crowds was still pretty hard, but people were much nicer and friendlier than I expected. It did not have a very competitive vibe to it and everyone seemed to have a really good time. 

The weather was sunny, but COLD and WINDY!! Wind gusts up to 50 km/hour, blowing sand and dirty into my eyes the whole time. No more racing without sunglasses! Also, I need to get some more run training in. I am good with going up hills because I have done lots of incline work...but going down hills is SCARY!So I will need to practice that with more intentionality. 

This week, I get back into the groove of swimming and biking. I have a triathlon that is calling my name, and I want to be ready for it!
