I read once that "breaking bad habits" is an ineffective way of thinking about how to change your behavior.  Instead, think about new habits to replace your old habits.  The new habits that I want to cultivate during this game are:

  1. No shame.  I tend to make one "poor" decision and then spiral from there, giving up because I feel that I have failed.  Instead, I will remember my goals and that one decision (or many decisions) doesn't mean that I have failed.  It means that I still have work to do, and that's ok.
  2. Notice foods.  I enjoy desserts.  Other foods, not as much.  But if I pay attention to the foods I am eating--their colors, flavors, textures--I may learn to enjoy them more.
  3. Thank my body.  Our bodies work really hard.  It is so easy for me to be dissatisfied with my body instead of recognizing all of the amazing things that it already does so well all the time.  I don't think that there is a such a thing as a "perfect" body.  I want to be grateful for the body I have.

What are the new habits that you want to begin?
