I am new to dietbet and have been wanting to lose weight for a while.  I love the idea of money as a motivator!!  I've had a lot of loss in my life in the last 2 years and I'm currently miserable in my job so I have been eating too much comfort food.   But, I am now ready to make a change. 

I have many motivational gurus, but my current inspiration is Brian Tracy.  He is a motivational speaker who is known for time management and goal setting.  I am currently listening to his audiobook "Fit and Trim for Life!"  He says weightloss can be summed up in 5 words: "Eat less and exercise more."  We all know this, and if it were that easy, we wouldn't need this website. . .  But, I want to recommend Brian Tracy because the he makes excellent points and even has the recipe for a 7 day cleanse.  I've never tried this, but I might do a cleanse near the end of my 6 month journey so I can WIN.  : ) 

One piece of advice I am going to focus on is avoiding the 3 white "poisons" -- sugar, white flour (and white rice) and salt.  He mentions that some people have the habit of salting their food before they even taste it -- too much  is alway unhealthy.  I have a sweet tooth so it will be challenging to give up sugar, and we all know that processed foods always have sugar added.  If you start reading labels, you'll be amazed how much sugar is hidden in all our foods.  I'm hoping I will have the inner strength to say no to sweets.  I think I can because I used to have a 3 can a day Diet Coke habit and I quit cold-turkey a few years ago - I don't even miss soda.
