I have tried and failed to lose weight many times, I am not obese and to most people I do not look 'fat' but I am! My BMI is over 25 and I used to be a stone lighter.
So this year I am determined to lose at least 1 stone by the end of the year. I have been working on setting monthly, yearly goals. This made me realise to lose a stone in a year that is just over 1lb a month! How Easy!!
More difficult was the monthly and weekly goals. I have a wedding on the 19th February that I want to look fabulous in so I set myself a weight goal for that date.
To make it the most manageable though I have been setting weekly small goals, or something to focus on for that week. Without being overwhelmed with general healthy living choices I have found this approach to be the most successful - I feel I can measure my achievements and by being focused on one element I am more likely to succeed.
Last week I gave up diet coke - my nemesis, I was drinking at least a bottle a day. So last week nothing, and it turns out it wasn't that hard. I put my mind to it and had none. I also worked out that crisps is my trigger food, as soon as I opened the packet my cravings for diet coke went through the roof! Strange but useful to know.
This week I am focusing on unhealthy snacks - in that I won't have any. So far its wednesday and its taken willpower and careful planning but I haven't caved. I have my morning apple and afternoon carrot sticks or raisins to curb my appetite and I don't actually miss chocolate or crisps it was more the convenience.
I am excited seeing the changes and succeeding is a fantastic feeling that is helping me to increase my self-love which is particularly love at the moment.
Hello 2016! This year will be great.
