Like many of you struggling with getting fit, I'd make great strides only to put it back on over a longer period with a few added on. Turning 50 in September, I vowed to have a BMI that was no longer Obese range, and am on track to even hit the normal range!
I walked averaging 4-5 miles most days through all of last year, but only managed to lose 13-15 pounds. Then, with a drastic life changes (relocating to Texas, second child off to college, rehoming our horses) I let food be my coping agent. It's now the end of January and I managed to lose 12-14 pounds! Weight in is tomorrow :) I still cheated on a weekend away, and about 5 other days. So, for February, my challenge is to make it with just four cheat meals built in and see where that takes me.
I follow clean eating: berries, whole grains, veggies, lean meats. I find if I add red bell peppers, spinach, broccoli, almonds, and berries into my diet, I feel better and do not crave the high calorie foods. I try to always keep those on hand.
Ill update at least once a month, but for sure every ten pound increment. To reach Normal BMI range, I must lose 77 pounds. With 8 months and 2 weeks before I hit 50, I can do it! Shoot for 100k steps per week.
