Round Goals

The object of the game is to maintain your initial weight for 12 months, with a +2% allowance to allow for daily fluctuations (you can also lose up to 4%). To make that easier, we break the Maintainer into 12 rounds, each with its own pot, giving you regular accountability and incentives. That means if you stay within -4% to +2% of your weight all year, you can cash out 12 times!

Miss a goal for a round? Don’t worry—you can still win the next round and the Grand Prize at the end of Round 12. Half the bets are spread across the first 11 rounds, and the winners of Round 12 split the other half. The goal for each round is the same, though you MUST be between -4% and +5% of your initial weight by the end of Round 11 to be eligible to win the final pot. This is to prevent unsafe sprints at the end.

Rounds 1-10: between -4% and +2%

Round 11: between -4% and +2% to win; within -4% and +5% to qualify for Round 12 (MANDATORY)

Round 12: between -4% and +2% (MANDATORY)

How do we verify your weight?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

  • Round 10 - Developing Healthy Habits

Each month, optional challenges are posted in the game feed. If you chose to participate in a challenge, your name is entered into a random draw for prizes. This is purely participation based and isn't related to the DietBet membership program.

This challenge will run over the course of the month.

For many of us, the holidays can be challenging. This month, the focus is on developing healthy habits in preparation for the challenges we will face. This isn't about making big changes but building on healthy habits so they become routine before the holidays.

    1. Identify 1-3 areas in which you anticipate a struggle over the next two months
    2. Identify strategies on how to face/overcome these challenges
    3. Develop a plan of attack on how to build up those strategies into manageable chunks with specific timeframes in mind (today, tomorrow, this week, next week, etc).

I will post mine shortly. :)

Thanks to everyone who's chimed in. It seems this isn't a popular challenge :P It will be scavenger-hunt-esque in December.

Glad to hear things have been in check, Mo. Sleep is important too so I'm glad you are tackling that!

Diane - I think it's a great idea to look for a pattern.

Kim - Thanks for pointing out the social gathering aspect. I tend to stuff my face in social situations to reduce discomfort. While our holidays will be close to home and just family this year, family members don't always get along so it's a good thing to consider.

Sherry D.

For me...making time for exercise. recognizing that exercise should NOT be considered frivolous time spent. For me more than the food it's making that time a priority with all the other things going on: home/family (cleaning, food/meal prep, kid to activities), sewing (filling orders for my business & prepping for holiday shows), and then all the holiday things added to it that should be fun (trimming the tree, annual gingerbread houses w/the kid, etc.), but tend to add stress because I feel like I should be doing all the other. And so...the exercise time gets deleted!

So...This year having my 2 regular days at Orange Theory should help. Now I just have to make the time to get on the elliptical at home at least 2 other days.

Mindless eating does come into play...Totally going to use LinLin's advice of brushing teeth early! I'm up late sewing and if I walk into the kitchen and there's a treat...I'll grab it!

Also going to reinstate the water bottle on the nightstand idea & slugging it 1st thing (can't remember who shared that a while ago.) Not on OT days. Heading to an intense workout with 23 oz of water in tummy, not good!

Other than that...Balance! If I'm good about exercise & water intake, I should be able to have treats here and there. And "treats" could be wonderful dinners out, not necessarily a brownie or holiday cookie. Cheers!
