How do you verify the weight loss?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

Seriously doubt everyone reached their goal. This feels like a scam and I’ll be losing weight on my own now. Not joining again.

This is the last game I do with DietBet. Registered for two games. First one I only won $2 and this one all I did was get my money back. Not worth my time.

The ones that are 6 months you get more. I did one a month long I won $77. On 6 month ones I've won $250 before.

I’m confused. Did everyone reach goal weight? I got $100, but thought it would be more?

So i bet $100 that I would lose 4%. I lost the 4%. And now I just get my money back? I’m confused. Why didn’t I get money out of the pot from people who didn’t meet the requirements

Diet bet takes 20%

Hello, I'm confused. The buy-in for this game was $100, and I am a winner. Dietbet says I won my bet amount back ($100). According to the game stats there were 1,337 players and 1,084 winners. Shouldn't the pay-out be more?

DietBet takes a cut of it and the referees

I have a ??? I’m hoping someone can answer for me... This is the first DietBet that I was ever in that I met my goal. Yay me. I know it was $100 buy in. I thought if you met the goal you split the pot with all the winners. Is that accurate? I got an email saying that I won $100. I’m confused because that was my buy in. Does that mean EVERYONE met their goal and I only get my buy in back or that I get my buy in back plus $100? Sorry for the confusion. Please help me understand.

DietBet takes a 20% cut and the winners split the rest. In order for winners to get more than the buy-in, over 20% of players have to fail to meet the goal.

Another thing to consider is that since winners can never lose money, DietBet actually can't take their full cut for a game like this since fewer than 20% lost the bet.

It sucks!!

I would not have bet $100 of my money without reading the rules first. If you did, then you have no reason to complain. Of course they take a cut of the money. How do you think they pay the referees, tech support, and software developers? They have a no lose policy, so everyone gets their money back. That is fair. If you paid five dollars to be a member, that is just like playing the lottery. You didn't win one of the weekly prizes with your $5. You did not have to become a member. While I have not made much money this go around of games, I have had lots of 50% return games. If it has motivated you to lose weight, please do not let this deter you from playing again. You have not lost money, and you have become healthier!

Amber, I did transformers last your and I nearly doubled my money on each that I won. First time with a kickstarter. Breaking even is not what I had expected. But it makes sense with new years resolutions. I should have gone with the cheaper games.

Breaking even does not make sense. It says there were 1337 players on the game and 1084 won. That leaves 253 loosers times $100 equals $25,300. Where is that surplus money?

DietBet takes a 20% cut. So winners only get more than the buy-in if over 20% of players lose the bet.

I’m DietBet’s and the hosts pockets.
