How do you verify the weight loss?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

**December 6 Challenge Announcement**

Our next challenge will be Thursday, December 6. For this challenge, you'll need to get in the number of steps equal to your daily step goal, or last seven day average. So what's that mean?

On Fitbits, you have a daily step goal that you try to work towards. The default is 10,000; however, you may have changed it to fit your own physical needs. If your device has a daily step goal that you work towards making each day, you need to get in the number of steps equal to this goal.

If your device does not have a goal, you'll need to do a little math. Take the sum of the last seven days of your steps and divide by seven. This is your daily step goal for the purpose of this challenge.

For example, here's a sample of the last seven days' worth of steps:

Sunday: 6,700

Monday: 7,200

Tuesday: 7,400

Wednesday: 6,987

Thursday: 5,600

Friday: 8,120

Saturday: 8,200

Total steps: 50,207 / 7 = 7,172

Steps needed for this challenge: 7,172

I like to do a challenge like this because for those who aren't able to reach 10,000 everyday for whatever reason, this type of challenge gives everyone an opportunity to participate. And it's still a challenge for everyone.

On Friday, there will be a Challenge Check In post. From those who comment, I will select a random winner. I will notify this person via the email associated with his/her DietBet account. This person will then have 24 hours to reply with verification of his/her steps and his/her goal or seven day average in order to claim the prize.

If no word is received in that window, a new winner will be chosen.

Any questions, please ask.

^^Yes! All of the challenges aren't this way, but I do think it is important to understand that we are not all at the same level. And maybe that's because some of us sit at a desk all day and it's just hard to get steps in. And maybe that's because some of us are recovering from an injury and working on moving again. Doesn't matter, but I do like to have challenges that everyone can participate in.
