What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone

One week down, three weeks to go!

I had a rough weekend food-wise. My husband and I got last minute tickets to the Army v Navy football game in Philadelphia. My husband graduated from West Point and had a 22 year career in the Army. So, obviously, we were happy with the result. However, food options at the stadium were less than desirable. And it was FREEZING! I'm not a coffee drinker so I had two cups of hot chocolate just to try and stay warm. Each one was 450 calories! Oh my. I don't like to drink calories. And just the thought of consuming 900 calories on just two cups of hot chocolate makes me want to cry. I won't even mention the food options. At least I got up to log a six mile run before 6:00 am.

But you know what? It's one day. Does that one day define the outcome of this challenge? NO. Did it define my day on Sunday? NO. Did I decide to skip my workout today? NO. When you have a day that is just beyond your control, you just move on and immediately get back on track. So that's what I did.

How was your weekend? And what food are you planning for the week ahead?

Love that my food plan is automatic and salads are prepped. I’ve discovered that a whole food diet saves actually quite a bit of prep time and my body doesn’t have to suffer with the processed foods. But my consistency of exercise is not kicking in like I’d like to see. I wasn’t able to get all my steps in. Actually I was surprised that my steps weren’t higher. Could my Fitbit not be working properly? Didn’t even make 5K steps on Sunday :worried:! Just with daily chores around the house I used to make 8K! I just remember that exercise is only <20% of weight loss. It’s more about what you consume. Goal this week is to focus on purposefully moving more!

We got 15+ inches of snow over the weekend, which is our average annual snow accumulation! Got all of my meal prep for week done, but having to push to get my steps. NCDOT and our small towns are not equipped to handle this much snow.
