  • A digital camera or smartphone

I really have no idea how to eat during this time frame, I exercise a lot and have built up muscle tone-but am still carrying a lot of fat. I’m going to diligently track food and limit added sugar. Any other tips? I am wary of so called diets,

Ditto to what Addie said... drink water and make (mostly) healthy choices. i also use and highly recommend the LoseIt! app. It has worked so much better for me than myfitnesspal. I do not eliminate anything that is typically labeled “bad,” nor do I follow a “diet.” I eat a well-balanced diet that includes a wide variety of protein sources, lots of veggies and fruit, and that also occasionally includes things like bread, potatoes, pizza, and dessert. I log everything I eat, and as long as I don’t go over my calorie budget, everything just falls into place. The water thing is easy for me, because i actually prefer water over any other beverage. But basically, ever since I gave up dieting, started eating what I wanted (in reasonable amounts) and started tracking through LoseIt!, the weight and inches have not stopped falling off. For me, when I used to follow food “rules”, I would do great for a while, but then I would get frustrated and end up going on a mad binge. You have to do what works for you, and if you want to maintain after hitting goals, it really needs to be something you can do for life. That’s why I don’t diet. There is literally no diet that has ever resulted in permanent weight loss for me.
