How do you verify the weight loss?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

Does this actually work?

Out of 770,788 DietBetters, 98.73% have lost weight during their challenges. Combined, they've lost 13,310,509 lbs and won $62,263,235. In other words...yes.

All results shown on DietBet are from actual users. Individual results may vary.

Has anyone received their money via PayPal yet? How long does that normally take?

Jenn and Kandice

It shouldn't take more than 24 hours. I would recommend contacting support: support@dietbet.com

Thank you! I’ll do that!

From customer support:
There were 170 players at $80 per player, so a total pot of $13,600.

Dietbet takes our cut off of the top, which for an $80 per person bet is 25%.

That brings the total shareable pot to $10,200.

There were 134 winners, which meant each winner would have only won $76.12, except our "no-lose guarantee" kicked in. Our No Lose Guarantee states that Dietbet will forego part or all of our cut to ensure no one who wins their game loses any money.

So worst-case scenario is what happened here - so many people were successful in meeting their goals that the payout was very low! Which isn't great for winnings, but is awesome for everyone who made such great progress.

I've emailed Support for more info. I'm confused about the pay out on this one as well.

A little confused about the payout. Are we just getting our $80 back without actual winnings? In the past I received my money back with around $10 or $20 of winnings. Just wondering. The ultimate payout was obviously losing the weight, yay!

25% cut is way too high especially in this situation. We are lucky to get our money back even though we won! It is definitely a good motivation but we are basically betting not to lose our money we put in.

Marina Q.

Thanks to everyone for clarifying that :)

Please provide the breakouts of how the $80 payout for each winner is calculated while each player paid $80 in the bet.

Exactly! ^^ Technically, if they took their whole 25% cut and didn’t guarantee we wouldn’t LOSE our initial bet, we would’ve lost almost $4 instead of breaking even. There’s always a bright side. Especially if you made your goal and didn’t lose the whole $80.

@laurie you are more than welcome to donate your $4 to dietbet

If 134 people won out of 170 how is our payout the exact amount we paid to play the game? 36 people lost at $80 each so $2,880.00 is kept by DietBet? I thought winners split the pot and DietBet kept a small portion.

I’ve done two transformers, won all rounds, and my payout was $234 and $245 when I spent $125 by paying all rounds upfront. So I ALMOST doubled my money. I actually made more on the smaller game that had a pot of $68k? vs. the one with a $1.1M pot. I thought for sure I’d make $$$ on that big one. I was shocked I made more on such a smaller pot. I saw someone post they’d heard somebody made $1000 on a transformer. I don’t see how. I’ve never made that much obviously. I have another about to end round 5 and one starting in a few days so I’ll have two more transformers to which I can compare earnings, but I’d pass out and die if I got $1k. I don’t see that happening. I’d be thrilled with $325, but I’m also assuming that’s WITH the $125 or $150 initial investment (depending on if the player paid all rounds upfront) so best case scenario, they would’ve netted $200 over that 6 months.

Well I signed up for one more DietBet and it will be my last as I don't think Waybetter use to retain such a high cut previously. Such a shame to as I enjoy the community.

I paid 80$ for the game and revived 80$ for winning. That has been a first, congrats to everyone for winning then!!! 😘🎉🎊

Total pot was $13,600
DietBet percentage is 25%
Leaving $10,200 to split among the 134 game winners.
$10,200 divided by 134 equals: $76.12.
But, since DietBet guarantees you'll get your total bet amount back if you win they took a lower percentage for this game and gave all the winners $80.

I’ve broken even on 2, won $0.58 on one and no more than $5+/- on the others, and I’ve done maybe 10 in this series.
