I mean I knew how to doggy paddle but I taught myself to really swim. All 4 strokes learned from YouTube and a lot of practice. And while I didn’t love it, I didn’t hate it either. At one point I was swimming a mile to a mile and a half a day. This morning I was awake at 3am (insomnia, it happens more often than not) and I knew by 5 there was no getting back to sleep. So the idea of the pool started to swirl in my head. I knew the suit I last wore to the pool wouldn’t fit so I went to the garage and fished one, the next size up, out of a storage tote. That one didn’t fit appropriately in the chest either, so I threw a swim shirt over it. Good enough. And I was in the pool at 6am. By 100 yards my arms were burning. I was sad to be in the “slow” lane. My timing was off and my strokes sloppy. But I pulled and propelled this body through the water for half an hour. And I didn’t hate it. #fitnessfriday
