What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

  • I just got back from DC for a personal training conference and ironically I ate like a little 🐷
I had tons of gluten free desserts and I drank alcohol with colleagues at the conference socials (another irony, didn’t know that many fitness professionals drank beer. I’m more of a cocktail kind of guy)
The scale didn’t really move though I was lucky.
I basically was very selective with what I ate (tons of veggies and a variety of veggies) and the conference offered workouts to the attendees which I took advantage of each day.
Anyone else want to share their tips on how they are able to maintain their weight loss when they go out of town and are out of their routine?

    Pics:
-Post workout group pic from the conference
-Cava a delicious Mediterranean restaurant in DC
    -Dolcezza gelato which was divine
-My favorite presentation on metabolism based fitness and nutrition

I agree with the above commenters. You can definitely indulge as long as it is in moderation. And vacation is the best time to do it so you can try new foods that you may not have access to at home. And the food in the pictures look delicious so definitely worth the indulge in my opinion. :)

So I’m a little bit different in my approach. I do indulge but only on certain foods. Some foods are highly inflammatory and cause water retention and slow down fat oxidation. So for instance, I don’t consume wheat or wheat products at all (except for once a year when I travel to NYC. Never giving up my NY style pizza :yum:)
I also don’t consume white sugar and products that contain white sugar. But I consume a pretty large quantities of organic cane sugar, raw unfiltered honey, organic agave, and organic maple syrup.
Because I don’t consume wheat I can’t drink beer or whiskey, but wine and other liquors are fine.
I also don’t consume corn or corn products. But many vodkas are made from potatoes, grapes, figs, etc so im not really missing out there.
I eat cheese but I don’t consume milk unless it’s in ice cream :joy:
So yea there are many factors I have my own program that I developed in graduate school that aligns with my training style. My clients and I have had tremendous success keeping the weight off. For me it’s been 2 years and counting since I lost 120lbs
