How do you verify the weight loss?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

Does this actually work?

Out of 772,741 DietBetters, 98.66% have lost weight during their challenges. Combined, they've lost 13,334,561 lbs and won $62,263,235. In other words...yes.

All results shown on DietBet are from actual users. Individual results may vary.

The game has begun! Lose 4% by your final weigh-in, and you'll be a winner.

Remember that you can weigh in unofficially as often as you like before then - it'll help you stay accountable. (And don't be distracted if anyone appears to have super fast weight loss. There's no bonus points for losing weight the fastest, and only official, Referee-approved weigh-ins determine who wins.)

Good luck and have fun!

We can do this if we stick together, encourage one another and abide by our nutrition/exercise plans! 💪

Looking forward to this challenge! I’m a 57 year old wife, mom to an amazing daughter, and admissions director. I have put in about 10 pounds in my 50’s and I’m ready to get back to the weight I feel comfortable with! Good luck everyone!

Hopefully made it on the challenge as my pictures are still being reviewed. Started the morning with my last of the kickboxing class session from the app. Better start something new from the app tomorrow. Head is filled with snotty cold, so fighting the urge to eat everything in sight. Have had weetabix and fruit for breakfast so far. Good luck everyone!

I managed Joe Wick's 7 Days of Sweat (Day 1) Hiit this morning. Usually sit watching crap telly, drinking coffee and resenting being awake. Its only day 1... but I'm determined to start the day with exercise because I just feel so much happier already!

Good luck folks! Xx

I love Joe Wicks. Such a great guy , so many recipes on Instagram and free workouts on youtube!

Yeah I love that even though he looks mega fit, he moans and complains through the workouts lol. Makes me feel better when I'm struggling!

So I have never actually attempted to lose weight except when I was bulemic 15 years ago. But as I'm aging into my late 30s I'm slowly gaining so I'm going to try to accomplish my goal of losing 7lbs. I haven't even weighted myself in months so it'll be a surprise tomorrow when I buy a scale. Good luck everyone.

Arooba J.

For me it was making the effort to wake up early around 6:30 first and then slowly forced myself to a HIIT or cardio training in the middle of the day. By the time it was 9 pm I would be dying to get to bed, do a little reading which would push me over the edge :)

I agree with Arooba. Getting up really early naturally starts to push you toward getting to bed sooner. You’ll start craving sleep like water or food.
