How do you verify the weight loss?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

This will probably be the last DietBet I ever do. Every time I feel good, like I’m in a calorie deficit and my clothes feel looser and I’m super proud of myself, I have to get on the scale for the weigh ins and become so discouraged. The scale isn’t a good enough measure of success. And unfortunately it’s the only measure this game goes by. I haven’t won a single round. I’ve lost weight, but also a lot of money. I know I’ll get some haters on this post, but I think there’s other people that are in the same boat, and sometimes the scale triggers an emotional response and that isn’t beneficial to weight loss.

i totally hear you. this is my next to last dietbet. i'm pretty close to maintenance weight and the scale is making me crazy. my definition of success now is keeping the weight off, yet i don't want to lose money. thank you for validating my experience. i want to validate yours. it's tough.

The scale is just one tool in an arsenal for health. Inches are another.
I like these because even when I lose the dietbet I feel like I lose more weight than if I had not joined, but it is more than fine if they aren't for you. We all have our own paths to health, and I think instead of haters you will find we just want you to find the best path that works for you to be happy and healthy! Good luck in whatever you choose.
