  • Protein shakes aren’t a necessity, but I drink them daily to help me meet my protein goals. One recipe I have been LOVING lately is this Casein Peanut Butter & Strawberry shake that I drink as my dessert an hour or two before bed. It has the consistency of soft-serve and tastes SO GOOD, so I wanted to share it with you:
    1. 1 scoop Vanilla Casein powder (I use Beachbody Recharge)
    2. 1 cup chopped ice
    3. 1 packet Stevia
    4. 2 TBSP PB2
    5. ½ cup unsweetened vanilla cashew milk (you can use almond too)
    6. ¼ tsp Guar Gum
    7. 3 Strawberries, diced

    Directions: Blend first 6 ingredients together until smooth. Pour into cup and top with diced strawberries.
    Nutrition: 172 Calories, 25.5g Protein, 14.8g Carbs, 2.6g Fat

For my taste, the key to perfect texture is FROZEN strawberries. They blend up so creamy and smooth like ice cream.
My go-to frozen treat helps me get in my iron and satisfies my sweet tooth.

1 cup of frozen strawberries (50 cals)
Add some cocoa powder if you need a chocolate fix (10 cals)
1 container of flavored yogurt - I use Belfonte non fat Boston Cream Pie (70 cals)
2 or more CUPS of baby spinach (you can't even taste it)
Few ice cubes
Squirt of liquid stevia or packet of sweet n low
Cup of cashew or almond milk (25-30 cals)

Blend
Less than 150-200 calories
15% of daily iron
5g fiber
9g protein

If you don't care about calories and are more protein-focused add PB or protein powder

  • I’m pretty simple when it comes to my shake. Sometimes I add fruit, sometimes I use spinach (or cauliflower rice), it really depends on my mood and what I have planned in other meals for the day. But I have learned that I do like it blended with ice.
