How do you verify the weight loss?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

Anyone had problems photographing the number on the scale and solved it?

I have had difficulties. I have a digital scale. In fact, I have two, and regrettably I weigh 2 lbs less on one than the other, but the nicer scale doesn't work at all for DietBet photos. The meaner scale is the one I use for the game but some days it's very hard to get a good photo of the numbers on the scale. I've even had one rejected because the numbers weren't clear enough. This morning's weigh in took me 20 minutes and I had to shoot 20 photos of the scale before I got one where the numbers felt clear enough.

I can't tell if I need more light in the room, less light, or another scale. I've taken photos in every kind of light condition, early morning darkness to late afternoon light, and it just seems like getting a good photo is the hands of the photo Gods.

This is a 6 month game. Wondering if I have to invest in one of those giant number analog scales?

Tips, anyone?

Toenails look great! :)

My scale is hard to picture. I’ve found I have to get close to the numbers and angle my phone so that it’s more vertical than horizontal.
