How do you verify the weight loss?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

Does anyone else have thalassemia? I am working on getting healthcare for mine because it has been physically debilitating the past week while I’ve been maintaining my diet. It helps if I eat some food. I regularly consume eggs and green leafy veggies. I am not sure if my thalassemia is to blame for the severe response to heat and caloric restriction (I usually eat at least 1,200 cal a day) that leaves me dizzy and physically fatigued. Was wondering if anybody on this game had experience to share concerning anemia related conditions.

I have iron deficient anemia (don't absorb iron from food and then excessive monthly blood loss) that I get treated for with transfusions/iron supplements and meds to block my spleen from purging my small/misshapen red blood cells. I have times when I'm bad that it's effort to keep my head upright or sit in a chair. I spent years thinking I was just tired until I passed out and finally started medical care. Amazing how much better I am when I take meds. When I'm low, I can barely put my shoes on let alone make it up a hill. Good luck--but I am hopeful you'll work with a doc to get it figured out. I live in a hot area and work outdoors--when I passed out about 10 years ago it was 4th of July and I thought it was the heat and dehydration, but it was crazy low iron. Turns out because I lived with it for so long without getting treatment I did damage to my heart. I can't stress enough that pushing yourself may not be good...get your questions answered by a med professional.

I just wanted to say thank you for posing this question. It’s one I think about often, but have been told the condition is so rare that most don’t know about it.
