Have you heard of set point theory? Its this idea that no matter what you do you will hit a plateau and your body will do everything it can to stop you from losening weight. And one of the things it can zap your energy to lower your BMR. This means no matter how few calories you eat you won't lose weight. The only way to make it through, its to give your body time. That's the theory anyway

Not everyone’s favorite thing to hear but I’ve heard in order to lower the adiposity set point one should eat unsexy foods for awhile. Think plain whole food without sauces.
