How do you verify the weight loss?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

Does anyone have a good plan for avoiding Halloween candy? Halloween has always been the start of my weight gaining season. I signed up for this game just because I knew it would keep me focused through this time of the year.

I like to eat all of it at once. That way I won't eat more tomorrow! Sad, but true.

Amanda F.

Don't deprive. Have 1 a day or dont have it in the house if possible.

  • I just hit 195 pounds, down from 325. Fitting in to a size 10/12 now 😊 one more pound to go for this rounds goal. If anyone has a weight loss Instagram page and would like to share so we can motivate each other, post it in the comments or add me: lindsayhjw
Keep going everyone, you got this! 😊

Sometimes I get frustrated because I'm losing weight but I still have a big belly. It helps to focus on the areas where I'm visibly getting thinner - for me that's my face and neck and my muffin top. By the end of this round I might even have visible clavicles.
Are there any surprising areas where you all are seeing your weight loss?

I noticed my ribs today :)

Have you ever been tested for diabetes or PCOS? Insulin resistance can cause belly fat

Super disappointed! Saved up some calories to have pizza from our favorite place tonight, haven’t had it in awhile. But it was way over cooked and really sparsely topped!! Argh. So not worth the wait 😩

This type of thing has happened to me before as well. I usually end up eating the food anyways and regret everything.

Alice B.

It will taste wonderful once you’re done with the whole dieting.

Anyone else gain weight when going to the gym? I’m sure it’s just muscle but it’s always a let down 😅
Swapped my weights and cardio so I do the cardio last now, but hopefully I start going down instead of up 😳😬

I agree with Naomi, you don't see the weight loss from exercise right away, but in the long run it's doing great things for your metabolism and it benefits you in so many other ways.

Water weight! Keep going!

  • Lunch tomorrow! Little over 200 calories if you don’t count the half of a “bar” that will be a sweet treat (no idea how many calories it is).

    Taco salad (salsa for dressing)
    Diced pineapple
    Sparkling water

Dozen donuts on my desk for bosses day. Ate two out of obligation, then gave the rest to employees and students. I ate the Milk Duds too. Ugghh.

No sweets rest of week??

Oh man. Milk duds are my nemesis!

Lea M.

Yeah, I'm not sure there is any winning over milk duds. One strategy I used when I was in an office setting was to take a cookie or donut or whatever and put it in a bag for later. That way I didn't feel too deprived and if I had a treat planned for that night or the weekend I had something good.

Well, I blew right past my round 1 goal, which is great. The hard part starts now for me. It always seems like I lost the first few points easily and then it's extremely difficult. This is also going to be hard for me because it's purely about dieting. I used to be a marathoner, but a knee surgery earlier this year ended that and I'm still doing rehab on it. For all my life I've been more or less able to outrun my awful diet, and for the first time my weight loss comes down to good eating habits. So I started by incorporating intermittent fasting and eliminating candy (my biggest weakness!). This round I've eliminated all non-fruit/veggie carbohydrates. I will add whole grains back in moderation in a couple weeks. I'm really enjoying this though. I no longer have an excuse to not considering what I'm putting in my mouth by saying "I'm fueling for a race!!!!" :) You all are doing great, keep it up!

Getting back on track with my tracking. I’m breastfeeding, so burning a lot of calories and food management has been difficult. I’m always hungry! And I’m torn between wanting to honor that because I’m feeding another human and wanting to shed the weight and feel good in my pre pregnancy wardrobe. Argh! I tried eating intuitively but that did not work. So back to tracking it is! Anyone in a similar boat?

They say you need roughly 300-400 extra calories when breastfeeding. Just try to make them healthy calories. Yeah a cookie may be 100 calories but that 100 calorie banana is healthier.

Doc h.

I've lost 40 pounds while breastfeeding! I just Calorie counted at around 1500 calories a day and increased my deficit with exercise. I recently stopped breastfeeding, but it wasn't a supply issue, it was a 'man, I am DONE with this' issue

  • I missed the first round by a few pounds and will be in Europe (fingers crossed) for round 2. Recommitting to tracking calories with an eye on December. Although I’m a bit disappointed in the scale, I just passed the 6 week mark in my half marathon training where I fell off the wagon in August.
