Hey everyone! Someone gave me an AWESOME tip for Halloween candy management that I think will really work for me so I thought I'd share.
Set an interval timer for every 15 minutes on your phone or smartwatch, and every time it buzzes, allow yourself to eat one piece of candy. That way, you are slowing down your sugar consumption, eating mindfully, and you don't feel deprived because you know you are never more than 15 minutes away from candy.
I'm do a Halloween party every year, so I'm going to do this for the duration of the festivities (about 4 hours), which totals less than 20 pieces of candy (not too bad if you consider how much you might eat if you just snacked mindlessly). If you're going to be around candy all day, you could do a piece of candy every 30 minutes to stretch it out even more.
Hope this helps someone!

Anybody else think they will not reach their goal. I am hopeful and have 4 pounds to go but I don’t know if my body really can lose it within 12 days…

Same here. I've done this once before and lost most of the weight in the first week and then had to really work for the last couple of pounds to hit my target. I have to admit I haven't had the same focus this time around. 4 pounds in 12 days is still possible but we'd need to be getting everything pretty much perfect from now on!

4lbs in 12 days is SO achievable !!! Just be consistent :) stick to the diet, get those steps in… 100% there :)

I like the 90’s pop workout playlist

Yes Jennifer! At the time I didn't pay that much attention, but now a 90s hit will play and I'll somehow still know all the words!

Stay positive and don’t dwell on last week this week is a new week

J.P. S.

My daughter’s fourth birthday will. Not. End. The celebration, and the attendant sweets just keep coming. I’m delighted for her, but it has definitely stalled my progress. Today, though, I was back on track. Every day is a new day. Heck—every moment is a new moment! Make a good decision now and just keep stacking them up.

  • I'm sorry. I love cats, and we are at the halfway point here!!!! Congratulations on your progress!

All of you shared such awesome mini goals last week, so I'm going to focus on a few mini-challenges that can help you stay focused over the next two weeks and carry some other benefits. Please keep in mind that all may not be relevant to you if you are following a specific plan (like Keto, etc.)

    1. Test out a new fish, fish recipe, etc. If you hate fish, substitute an alternate protein source. It doesn't have to be epic -- I purchased a salmon rub at a local spice store for the first time a few weeks ago and tried it. I already loved salmon, but the rub practically made me a gourmet -- so experiment with spices if whole entire recipes are not for you (either).

    2. Play with your macro ratio. If you feel stuck and have been hitting the same blend of protein/fat/carbs for a while, consider mixing it up just a little (barring participation in a specific plan for a specific reason of course). Add some extra protein and cut back on carbs or examine your macro sources more closely to make sure your fats are as heart-healthy as possible (this is not a salmon advertisement, but...).

    3. Walk and ? . So, you are already exercising if that is part of your plan. But are you moving enough throughout the day? If you feel like you would benefit from a bit more of a push, try incorporating walking/dancing/general movement in while you do something else.

Watching Netflix? Walk in place during an episode of your favorite show. Reading? Can you read on the treadmill or exercise bike or listen to an audiobook and take your act on the road? Doing household chores? Can you take a purposeful five-minute break between each activity to get in some extra low-key cardio? Little boosts can add up and make you feel more like moving at other times throughout the day. It's not always about the immediate calorie burn but the long-term effects.

Feel free to drop your own challenge below!
