How do you verify the weight loss?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

Moving right along to day three! And a friendly reminder that there is a step challenge today. The target for today's challenge is your normal daily step goal (or past 7 day average) plus an extra 250 steps. Unsure what that means? Find the **Challenge Winner Board** post. Read the second comment. It explains how to calculate your step goal for the challenge today.

Let's talk about "motivation" and "self discipline."

Motivation is defined as “the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way.” Motivation is likely the reason why you decided to join this DietBet.

Motivation alone is likely not to keep you pushing each day. You need more than motivation to reach your goals - whether that be losing your 4% to “win” this DietBet, train for an athletic race of some kind, graduate from college, etc.

Self Discipline is defined as “the ability to control one's feelings and overcome one's weaknesses; the ability to pursue what one thinks is right despite temptations to abandon it.”

Here are eight ways to build self discipline:

1. Make the commitment. If you really want to achieve your goals, then you must make the commitment to be disciplined.

2. Stay focused. Review your goals each morning before starting the day.

3. Prioritize tasks. Focus on completing the most stressful of your daily tasks first.

4. Get sufficient rest. Rest is just as important to losing weight as proper nutrition and exercise.

5. Eat for energy. Good nutrition equals a smarter brain and more energy.

6. Do the little things. Disciplining yourself to do the little things (making your bed, cleaning the house, keeping your car clean, etc.) will help you create the discipline to do the harder things.

7. Follow through. Make a decision and stick with it.

8. Reward yourself.

What have you already done today to work on building your self discipline - maybe without even knowing it?
