Hello everyone! Just a reminder that today is the last day to enter the week 1 challenge drawing (by answering the GETTING TO KNOW YOU QUESTIONNAIRE – see my post below). I’ll choose a winner tomorrow and also introduce the Week 2 challenge then as well.

I wanted to share the link to our support group call last night.
https://youtu.be/tO3Wrl5YBpc
Thank you to those who attended! It felt so good to talk with like-minded people, who understand what it feels like to diet (and in my case, yoyo diet). I walk away from things like and always feel rejuvenated, inspired, and motivated to keep fighting the good fight so thank you again for all your insight and input!

I’ve uploaded the group support call as a Youtube video (it’s unlisted, so people can’t try to search (or find) this video on Youtube – it’s only available to those (you all) who have this specific link). Feel free to give it a listen!

Our next group support call will be 12/13 at 7:30 pm. I’ll send reminders as it gets closer, but here is the link in advance.

Just a reminder, we have a facebook support page too if you prefer that format over this dashboard page – just an FYI. https://www.facebook.com/groups/goodactivehealth/

  • Hi!  I'm Christina :)

I am from northern NJ - right outside of NYC.

A little about me:  I'm 32 years old, and I live with my husband and our Shiba Inu puppy, Dojo!  (Our Christmas picture is below!)  Some of my hobbies include baking (it's a small side business) working out, arts and crafts, and spending time with family.

My weight loss plan this month is to not eat all the Christmas cookies as I make them!  But really, staying active and making healthier choices when going out to eat and at Christmas parties will be a big help.

One of my triggers is coming home late from work and never wanting to cook (although I like cooking) ... or going really hard on the weekly "cheat meal", lol

I plan to tackle this trigger by sticking to the weekly meal plan and making sure what I plan is quick, easy, and healthy or else I won't want to make it!

Favorite Motivational Quote:  "You got this"  I have it framed on my wall in my office at work!

Fun fact about me:  We are currently saving for a big home renovation that we can hopefully accomplish this year!  I think it will be life changing for sure.

All I want for Christmas is:  all of the things I ordered online to get here before Christmas, lol and maybe a new water bottle :)

  • Hello, I’m Kiki. I live in Arizona. I am a nurse and mom of 3. My weight loss plan is to cut down on carbs. One of my triggers is snacking while I prepare meals. I plan to tackle it, by only eating at the table. My motivational quote is: “Look before, or you’ll find yourself behind.”- Poor Richard’s Almanack, 1735
Fun fact: I’m 40 and celebrating 20 years of marriage to my best friend in December.
All I want for Christmas is to have my 10 year-old cancer-fighting son out of the hospital.

Hi Kiki! Thank you for introducing yourself. Love the quote - so much wisdom in those words. And thanks for telling us about your son too. What a cutie! We will be sending all our love and prayers for him, and your whole family right now. I can feel the love through this picture and just know he has an amazing heart. :green_heart:

  • Hi, I’m Juliette! I live in Georgia. I’m a happily married SAHW of 15 years and mom to 2 adorable and loving fur babies. My weight loss plan this month is to be consistent with my workouts but not push too hard. As I’m fast approaching 50, I have to remember that I can’t push as hard as I used to because I’ll end up injured. For me, slow and steady wins the race! I enjoy Dietbets to keep me on track especially during holiday season.

My biggest trigger is that my husbands love language is food. He often loves to bring in indulgent snacks that we can enjoy together. I plan to tackle this by not partaking quite so often.

A motivational quote I love is: Do something today that your future self will thank you for.

Fun fact about me: In our 20’s, my husband and I once quit our jobs and moved to Las Vegas on a whim. Fun times!

All I want for Christmas is good health and happiness for myself and everyone that I love.

I couldn’t love this more! Thanks for introducing yourself Juliette!! And it’s sooo hard to turn the food down that your love brings home - so much comfort with them, and then of course with the yummy food but you can do this!!! And you’re so right, Dietbet is perfect during the holidays! Thank you so much for being a part of our game. :green_heart:

Stu

I love that motivational quote! We always talk about how time passes no matter what, so may as well make time an ally and have your future self be more in line with what you want now.

  • To keep my food plan fresh and exciting, I incorporate a fruit or vegetable I've never experienced on a weekly basis. This week's selection is a pummelo. It's a citrus fruit... similar to a grapefruit but bigger and not as bitter tasting. Definitely recommend!

I am right there with you about food! I have realized that it will probably always be a lifetime challenge, but it doesn’t have to be something that continues to hold me back. Good luck this month.
- 11/30/2021 6:52PM

Kateka

Such a great post!! Thanks for sharing Wesley! You sound like you have an awesome family - I imagine they are your biggest cheerleaders! And I am with you - I just love food so much, but day by day, slow and steady we are going to become stronger than our cravings. We’ve got this! Good luck!!

  • *Name: Emily Zarek
*I am currently located in: Philadelphia suburbs
*Here is a little info about me: I have two kids - 6 and 3 - working on shaving off the rest of the weight I gained with my youngest, and I'm almost there! I like to bake, and have a small side gig selling birthday cakes, specializing in allergy-friendly cakes. I recently took up pottery which has been a nice pandemic de-stressing activity.
*My weight loss plan this month is to: Keep working out most days - mostly doing gentle workouts like the recumbent bike or body weight exercises. Don't overindulge in snacks and keep dinner portions reasonable.
*One of my triggers is: Exhaustion - not sleeping well makes me want to fuel my body to giving it excess calories. I'm not the best about getting enough rest and often stay up too late just to have alone time.
*I plan to tackle this trigger by: I'm trying to listen to my body better and go to bed at a reasonable time.
*A motivational quote I love is: Don't let perfect be the enemy of good.
*Fun fact about me: Although people associate me with baking cakes, cake is actually not even close to my favorite baked good. I like the creativity challenge, not so much the food itself!
*All I want for Christmas is: A week to do absolutely nothing. And then a week to do everything.

EDIT because I forgot a picture! Me and my gremlins.

Oooooh. I like your Christmas wish - I want to change mine to what yours is. :joy: Also, amen to the exhaustion (every single night, when it’s way past my bedtime I say, “Okay now, FOR REAL, TOMORROW is the day I’m going to be early!!” and it never happens). Also - great quote! So many good things to take from you introducing yourself - thanks for posting!
