How do you verify the weight loss?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

Congratulations to everyone!

Steve the actuary here, just made my goal on my first diet bet, found it very inspiring and helpful with focusing on a goal. A bit frustrated by the lack of transparency on the numbers, so here is what I have figured out. While it says the Pot is $14,910 and 409 players (math error?), it seems to me that more accurate is that there were 426 players contributing $14,910 into the pot. DB's rake is 25%, so the pot is reduced to $11,182.50. 167 people made the 4% weight loss goal, so they each get $66.96. 242 people were runners up, who get nada. I guess there are also 17 people who paid into the pot that did not participate (not winners or runners up) or gained weight and got no payout either. Feel free to correct me, but that is my conclusion.

I try to figure out the final #s of all my DBs....they never add up correctly.

I entered the wrong weight for weigh in.. But I made goal does anyone know how to fix this?

GeminiWitch83 Amanda

There is a cancel and resubmit on desktop version. I did that on another DB recently and someone pointed it out to me. Sorry the response is late. I hope you made it!

I'm so glad I made it. I was under a full pound. What a relief, I finally am at my goal weight!

Didnt make it....was 4 lbs heavier than my initial weigh in but its not a surprise due to my horrendous food choices and no exercise the past week. Trying not to get super depressed but its so hard. Gonna give myself some time to regroup and hopefully keep fighting. So exhausting sometimes though to constantly have to worry about weight and feeling really crappy about yourself when you backslide and lose the bet. Congrats to those who won!

I know it's frustrating to backslide it get stuck. It happens to us all. Just keep your head up. You're doing the right thing by being aware of where things have gone wrong. Try starting with one better food choice per day. Substitute water for one drink per day. Walk in place for 5 mins a day to get started. Make small attainable goals. When you do them consistently for awhile then add new small attainable goals. The problem with dieting is often the all or nothing attitude. It's not realistic to change everything all at once in drastic measures. Small attainable goals boost our self-esteem when we meet them for a set period of time that we set right for us. There is no one size fits all plan for weight loss and dieting.

Once we reach our personal smallAttainable goals for a set time, then we start feeling better about ourselves and then we set more goals and have more energy and more confidence that we can do it. It's a domino effect. All or nothing plans just seem to create a crash and burn and regaining of all the weight. I do not support that method at all. You have to make changes that are realistically sustainable for you over the long-term.

Didn't make it, somehow, despite eating well and exercising hard yesterday, I"m UP a pound again today. Sigh. At least I lost 5 during this bet! This is the first one I've 'lost', and I just can't be all that disappointed to still lose weight through the holidays.
