How do you verify the weight loss?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

Does this actually work?

Out of 905,049 DietBetters, 98.7% have lost weight during their challenges. Combined, they've lost 16,766,711 lbs and won $62,263,235. In other words...yes.

All results shown on DietBet are from actual users. Individual results may vary.

Don't take our word for it

Used my winnings from the last two games to pay for the next one, I just needed enough to KEEP GOING!! All that matters !

Same here! I used my winnings to start a Transformer. Nervous and excited! 6 months seems like such a long time and I saw my 'goal weight' and was shocked! It's going to be tough but I love the accountability! Best of luck to you!

I think everyone needs to stop complaining about the money they've won. It does say on average people win 50% back. We were just under that. Personally I have no issue with dietbet taking their percentage. They are a company and have staff to pay and other overhead costs. At the end of the day, the money is a little incentive, but losing weight for your own health should be the main motivator.

Dietbet has been a great motivator for me because I have to earn my money back and I get a bit extra on top which I'm saving for a new wardrobe.

This isn't a scam and I feel like they have been quite up front with their T&C's. I was skeptical at first but I read the rules and policy's and knew what to expect.

Be happy you got your money back and the extra because some games don't even get that.

I took my winnings and put them directly into another game. This game is about investing in yourself, and if they take 25% so be it! Any win is a win

If you win your money back and then use that for another game, as long as you win, you will never lose money. If you don't like it Suzi, why are you even on dietbet. The service is facilitating as a third party.

I don't mean to come off as a curmudgeon because we all did something that was really valuable to our health and that's all that matters ultimately. However, $15 is less than I spent on healthy food on a per day break down to make this goal -- so I'm a bit disappointed.

But again, we all did a great thing for ourselves and if the worst thing that happened was we made $15 then we are having a great day.

It's a small incentive, more about accountability than anything (so I feel). I don't think its supposed to pay for itself, so to say....

Danielle C.

Not solely to win money. No. but in my mind I did think that sacrificing cooking time for workout time and buying the healthy meals would at least even out.

But again I am happy for everyone including myself that we made changes for ourselves and it is something that I see and feel in a really great way. But moving forward I will be making the time to cook.

Ok so doing the math 1007 people did NOT make the bet. therefore that is 35245 up for grabs (35$x1007), split between the 1125 people who DID win, should be $31.33 EACH plus our original 35 bet given back to us. Therefore we should each have won $66.33.

Are there fees to this game I don't know about?
Is my math wrong? There is an 18,000 difference here. who has that money?

Clearly we're all in the wrong business!!

Dina M.

The math adds up perfectly.
$74620 pot = 2132 players x 35 fee
take away 25% from the total pot (per the rules you just posted, if the dietbet buy in is less than $99, they take a 25% cut), which leaves 75% of the pot for us to split;
0.75 x 74620 = $55,965
$55,965 pot to split amongst 1,125 winners = 55965/1125 = $49.7466 or 49.75 each

Reading the payout policy and it says you cannot have your winnings credited back to the credit card you paid with. So how do you get your cash winnings in hand? From what I am reading this is not a possibility as they only transfer into "game points."
So basically if you paid with a credit card and not paypal there is no way to get the money. Am I right?

It took literally no time at all to get my payout to PayPal and then from PayPal. Super convenient -- and free.

Paypal is free, safe and super easy to use. Once you set up your Paypal account you can cash out your points. :)
