  • Howdy! I’m Laura! I’m on a long haul journey to lose it all. I’m down to 240 from my highest weight of 370 a few years back. I’ve had medical challenges in my path causing weight gain in the past but I’m finally in recovery and on my way to a healthy weight. My hopeful final goal is to lose another 100 and get to 140, but I’ll take my journey one day at a time!!! Pic: the road so far

  • Ok, today is the biggest sporting event watched of the year. Who are you cheering for? I have no pony in the race.

I'm a Seahawks girl, so going for the niners is a big no no! But at the same time I don't want to see the Chiefs win. :grimacing: Hopefully we get some good commercials this year.

Chiefs Kingdom, baby! I'm a KC girl, so it's impossible not to root for them lol.

Weight loss is so frustrating… especially for us PCOS ladies. I walk at the gym everyday getting my heart rate into the “fat burning” zone for 40-60 mins. I’ve been strictly watching my calories in and out and somehow I step on the scale and I’m still dancing around the 280 - 281 range. It’s been like this for three weeks now! I saw 279 just the other day so I was so excited I finally broke the cycle and then the last three days or so I’ve been 280.something. This is frustrating 😤. Ugh… I’m trying to at least reach 275 by the time we leave on our cruise on the 28th!

Also have PCOS and TOTALLY get your struggle with losing weight! I second what Sarah A said about carbs. I never lose weight no matter my calorie count unless my carbs are low enough. My body just doesn't like it. Once I started consistently eating low carb diet I went from 300lbs to 230 in about 6 months eating ~1200 cals a day. I was really strict on my carbs though at the time with like 20-30g net carbs. For me and my body type it worked really well. PCOS is a hard balance and low carb doesn't always work out as a great lifestyle for everyone who has it but I have loved it and also feel 100x better when I eat that way as well. I hope you find your success!!!

When I’ve hit a plateau, I added intermittent fasting, and it honestly helped get me over that bump! I didn’t change anything else!
For me, I can’t do it long term (too many food “rules” for too long send me into binge mode) but it’s a useful tool to overcome sticky points

Chronic issues

I'm so annoyed! I've been in a gastroparesis flare up the week just gone so I've hardly eaten! I've had less than a thousand calories everyday and I've been living off soups, yoghurts and smoothies. I had two slices of toast yesterday as I finally felt well enough to manage some solid food. The scales today are showing three pounds up! A pound heavier than my starting weight! I have no idea why my body hates me so much! It's really frustrating... all the advice is calorie deficit is all you need to lose weight but clearly that's not always the case... I do feel disillusioned but I'll keep going and hope for better things next week. Not going to lie I nearly cried looking at the scales... I was expecting to be down 2 or 3 lbs not up...

I have been diagnosed with gastroparesis, but not told anything about it, or how to manage it. It sucks when our bodies don’t ’go with the flow,’ and seem to fight against us instead. :worried:

Just curious what everyone’s diet approach is? Are you tracking calories, macros, low carb, keto?

WW and Cronometer because macros, calories and the overall nutritional content of what I eat is important to me.

Laura

I use Carb Manager for calories. I used to use My Fitness Pal, but it went behind a paywall for too many features :( I do keto/low carb. I try to stick to about 1200-1400 calories a day. I keep my carbs under 50 net a day and any carbs I do eat generally come from vegetables and low carb tortillas where the fiber is really high. I avoid beans/rice/corn/potatoes etc in favor of less starchy veggies and focus on getting 80-100 grams of protein a day. Then I fill the rest of my calories with fat from various sources. I lost 100 lbs already eating like this even with little to no exercise so for me it’s been really good.

  • I was diagnosed with a rare brain disease back in 2021 and gained a LOT of weight since then (~100lbs). It’s been difficult with medications, exercise intolerance, and hopelessness of my medical situation to be able to get the weight off. HOWEVER! Things changed this year and I have already lost ONE HUNDRED pounds AND symptoms of my disease have decreased drastically due to a surgery I had this month. So, my goal this YEAR is to keep going and lose another Hundred pounds and finally get under 200!!! Current weight: ~260lbs

    HERE WE GO!!!

We just got the meta quest 2 VR for Christmas and was looking at the exercise games. I see a FitXR and supernatural, anyone use these or a different one? Do you like it?

I love beat saber for arms. Haven’t done any subscription fitness specific games yet. Interested in some bike ones to try at the gym though! Heard there’s one that does Google map trails that make it seem like you’re going through different scenic routes, but I don’t remember what it’s called.
