Only 2 days left everyone, we made it! Sorry I haven't been around, life has been crazy. I've been feeling lousy with one thing after the next since the middle of July so my exercise game has been next to none for a couple months now. My mother and sister both have some potentially serious health issues going on, we'll know more in the next few days hopefully, so that has been on my mind a lot. Before I started this journey at the beginning of the year I was 237 pounds of an emotional/ stress eating mess. Somehow I've managed to break that cycle and I have lost 65.2 pounds this year and now sit just 7 pounds above my personal goal weight! I won't be joining another Diet Bet after this game has finished since I'm so close to my goal. That actually makes me sad since I've found so much joy and motivation from the groups I've been in. My next steps will be to learn how to maintain my weight loss (that's so scary to me!) and to rebuild some of the muscle I know I've lost over the last couple months while spending too much time sitting around.

How about you guys, what's next for you after this game? I wish you all the best with wherever your journey takes you!

I think I’m either going to do a maintainer or an 8 week 4% one. I’ve worked too hard - and this weight has come off too slow - to go into this season without accountability. I find DB really helps keep me going - hearing both the struggles and victories is so encouraging!!!

Do you need to lose more, or does this put you at your ultimate goal? I suggest pushing for a few more and then coasting to the finish line! Great job on making it to the big money round!

I definitely need to lose more, but I’ve been dieting for a year and I’m feeling the burnout. I’m going to try to get to my next milestone then practice living at maintenance until January. Last time I lost significant weight I burned out hard, and had to stop exercising due to an injury. The weight came back on almost as fast as it came off. And it was all of it and then some. I’m trying to be smarter this time.

Does anybody here do weight training and has also experienced that in the beginning this stops weight loss or even has you gain weight? I'm a little frustrated, I started some bodyweight and dumbbell training, not even extensively, just 3 times a week for like 20 minutes like 1,5 weeks ago. And I didn't lose anything when before I lost like 2 lbs a week (keto). Is that normal? I'm afraid it could be it's not the workouts but that I have to adjust my calories again and I want to react accordingly as soon as possible

Agree with Rachel. Add a bit more protein. Her suggestions are great, and I will add one more PB2 or PBFit, whatever you prefer. I will add it to shakes and even to coffee. Can add water and spread it on celery or whatever you chose. I’d look at your fiber and water intake as well.

Since I tore my PCL during the first week of this competition, I have only been able to do heavy weight training and diet. It has been a struggle to lose the last few pounds. My weight has always fluctuated when I’m lifting heavy, mainly because of the water retention. Yes, muscle burns more calories but that is more if a long term effect, not really an advantage to trying to burn a few extra pounds in the last month of our competition. In my opinion, I would hold off on the dumbbell training, but continue the body weight training (that always burns hella calories), just since it’s we’re nearing the end :)

I've learned that, for me, consistency is better than "perfection" when staying in my calorie deficit. I have met every challenge so far, and looking at a true test: I booked a cruise before the final weigh in. I believe I am going to have a great time and still meet my goals. I'm not going to deprive or restrict. I add what brings me joy, and sometimes that's pizza and icecream on the ocean! 🍩

I have a vacation coming in September as well… I’m a bit more nervous. :grimacing:


Just got back from our family vacation and did pretty good. No outrageous eating and focused on meeting my daily step goal plus only 2 training runs (should of done 3 according to the schedule) Had a great time and only gained a couple pounds which will drop off quickly :wink: Enjoy yourself!!

Yesterday I went way off course. For my 61st birthday, my family made sure that most of my favorite foods were made for me. Large pretzels with dipping cheese, pan cooked pizza with extra cheese and chocolate fudge brownies with chocolate icing. I am so glad that I have a Birthday once a year. Today starts a new beginning and lots of exercise and calorie counting. I feel so good and very loved. Looking forward to the next year.

I was on vacation for the last 26 days straight... whew! I'm happy to say I didn't gain any weight... but I didn't lose any either- I must have been the perfect contradiction of relaxing and watching what I ate. I really need to kick this month into gear to make sure I hit the last 2 goals!
