I have failed every challenge each month! I woke up feeling defeated- I’m going to be on it!

Effort > perfection. You are trying, and that in itself is amazing. Practice will eventually bring progress even if it doesn’t happen as soon as you hope. Keep fighting the good fight!

I have a NSV I'd love to share.

Six weeks ago I joined a challenge at a gym. I wrote about this a week ago here. The goal is to lose both weight and percent body fat. You get a score that's based on percent loss of both. So if you go from 200 lbs to 190 lbs, you've lost 5% of your body weight. If you go from 30% body fat to 27% body fat, you've lost 10% of your body fat. Your total score between both would be 7.5% "lost" on average. Whoever does best on the average of both measures wins the whole thing. Moreover, you get your money back ($200--includes private training, gym access, etc) if you got an average of 10% loss across the weight and body fat measures.

I went into this already a month into this transformer (some weight loss had occurred) and in good muscle shape (I had been regularly going to the gym for months, with weight lifting.) So I wasn't starting from nothing. My goal was to get my money back, which was a "reach" goal.

I weighed out today and I made it to earning my money back! I got just under 6% of total weight loss (so a lot of the 10% needed for this 6 month challenge!) and I got almost 15% body fat % loss (as a reminder, that doesn't mean 30->15, which is impossible in 6 weeks; for me it was about 27->23).

We won't know the final result of who won the whole thing for a few days, and I expect it was NOT me for some of the reasons stated, and I'm not that hardcore. But I'm amazed I got to win my money back and make the progress I did.

We still haven't gotten an email about it, but I did find out one person at the gym had 18% average loss, which was 10% weight loss and I guess 26% body fat loss. (!!) They were pretty sure she was going to win but they're checking to see if someone else got that striking of a result. The trainer said her change was quite visible. I saw her at the end but not throughout and she looked super strong!
